How do I Setup Shift4 Payments on my Shift4Shop store?

When your new Shift4Shop account is created, you will automatically have the Shift4 Payment method enabled and ready to use.*

*Note
The Shift4 Payment method will be automatically enabled and ready to use for all new Shift4Shop stores (US-based stores only). Your store will use the email address that was used during your sign-up process to create/connect to your Shift4 Payments account. Be sure to also look for an onboarding email from Shift4 to help you complete your onboarding process on the payment method.

Existing Shift4Shop stores will also be able to connect to Shift4 and enable the payment method. Click here for information

To review your Shift4 Payment Method settings:

  1. Log into your Shift4Shop Online Store Manager
  2. Using the left-hand navigation menu, go to Settings >Payment
  3. Once there, click on the "Select Payment Methods" button located underneath "Payment Methods"

Your Shift4 Payments module will be listed in the Recommended Payment Solutions section at the top of the page. This article will describe the various settings that can be configured for your Shift4 Payments Module.

On the left side of the module, you will see the following settings and checkboxes.

  • Online Credit Card | Caption
This will show the display name for the payment method on your store's checkout page(s). You may change the caption by clicking on the pencil icon to the left of the "Caption" label.
  • Test Mode
This checkbox will place the payment method into test mode. This will allow you to place test orders on the store without actively charging the credit card. Just be sure to uncheck this box before going live with your store.
  • Display Shift4 TrueToken security message
Enabling this checkbox will add a small notice on the payment method informing your customer about the TrueToken encryption and security measures used during the payment transmission.

Additional Information
When enabled, the TrueToken Security message will be placed at the bottom of the payment method like this:

The link displayed will direct the customer here for more information (in a separate browser tab).

*Note
The disconnect option can be useful if you need to connect to your existing Shift4 Payments account that is perhaps under an different email address than the one automatically connected during sign up.
