How Is My Store's Password Policy Displayed?

Shift4Shop utilizes a dynamic message system to display your store's password policies to your customers in the event you are utilizing Strong Password requirements. This helps to ensure that your customers have a more consistent experience on your store.

By default, this password policy will display as such:

Password Requirements
To ensure your account is secure, your password must include all of the following:

  • At least 8 characters
  • At least 1 uppercase letter (A-Z)
  • At least 1 lowercase letter (a-z)
  • At least 1 number (0-9)

If you enable the "Requires Strong Password" setting found in the Store Settings it will dynamically add the following line to the bottom:

  • At least 1 special character (e.g., ! @ # $ % ^ & *)

This message will be found on your Customer Registration page along with their Update Account page once they are logged intot thteir account. This is done automatically and you will not need to modify any messaging on your store for your customers.

Failing to meet the password requirements will result in a dynamic message displaying informing them of the exact requirements they are missing.

Note
This same message will display in your Online Store Manager if you try to manually adjust a customer's information as well.

Important
Please note that while the above locations will update dynamically, this text will not update the checkout page's text for customers seeking to register during checkout. So please keep this in mind if you are enabling the Strong Password requirement. You are still able to modify this messaging via the Store Language and System Messages areas.

Likewise, if you have modified your store's registration page code, it can also prevent the message from updating. So ensure you are modifying code appropriately.
