How Do I Set Up Facebook Commerce?

The following article will help you set up the Facebook Commerce module for listing products on your Facebook for Business account.

Note
This module is available on all plans and is considered a replacement for the previous Facebook Ads module mentioned here. If you have previously set up your store to use the older Facebook Ads integration, this module will not be available to you. However, if you opt to disconnect the old module, you will then have the ability to onboard using this new version.

Be aware though that disconnecting the old module in favor of the new one will effectively reset the integration and clear your settings. In which case, you will need to go through the onboarding process all over again. Please consider this carefully before proceeding with integrating the new module from the old.

Onboarding the Facebook Commerce Module

  1. Log into your Shift4Shop Admin
  2. Using the left-hand navigation menu, go to Modules
  3. On the Modules page, use the search at the top to search for "Facebook Commerce"
  4. Once the module appears, click on its "Settings" button

Here's where you'll begin the Onboarding process.

  1. Click on the "Initiate Onboard Process"

This will prompt you to log into your Facebook login or - if you are already logged in - continue onto your Facebook account.

Note
Be sure you are logged/logging into the Facebook login for your business account if it is different than your personal profile login.

Follow the on-screen prompts to connect your Shift4Shop store to Facebook

Additional Information
During the onboarding process, you will create the connection between Facebook and your store. This process includes creating/selecting your Business Manager account on Facebook for managing your assets like the Facebook pixel and catalog.

Also note that - if you have an Instagram account associated with your Facebook login - you will also see an option to connect to your IG account during the onboarding process as well.

You will also be granting permissions to the module to help manage the account and function properly during this process.

Facebook Commerce Settings Page

Once the onboarding process is complete, the module settings page will refresh and look like the following:

At the top of the page you will see your various Facebook IDs. Then, on the bottom half of the page, you'll see the following settings:

  • Enable Module
Place a mark in this checkbox to enable to module.
  • Enable Pixel Tracking
Place a mark in this checkbox to enable to pixel tracking on your ads.
  • Include products on these categories*
Use the provided category selector to select categories of products you'd like to include on the Facebook Commerce feed.
  • Sync Products
Mark this checkbox to enable the product feed synchronization. You can also clear this checkbox if you'd like to pause the feed as needed.
  • Total of Products:
This label will show you the number of synchronized products.

*Additional Information
Aside from selecting the category the products reside in, you will also need to manually prepare products for the feed. (See next section)

Feed Products

Products for Facebook Commerce are fetched from your Shift4Shop store daily via a special CVS export file. In order to include products on this special CSV file, you will need to use the Enhanced Catalog for Feeds function on each product.

The enhanced catalog function will allow you to specify attributes on each product that Facebook Commerce will use for synchronization.

Click here for more information on using the Enhanced Catalog for Feeds function.

Note
For products with options, you will need to also use Advanced Options to ensure the proper attributes are included in the feed.

It is important to note that the fetching and synchronization of flagged products will take some time depending on the size of your catalog. Typically the CSV fetch will occur once a day, but you may also click on the "Fetch Now" button to manually process the request when you make updates to products. Again, depending on the size of your catalog however, the process may take some time.

Launch Management View

At the top right of the settings page, you will see a button labeled "Launch Management View" which will take you to your Facebook Business Manager (on Facebook).

This will allow you to manage your Business settings as well as create ads, review your catalog and more.

Note that - when setting up the Facebook Commerce integration - a special API access was created from your Shift4Shop store and your Facebook business account. You will see these listed under the Partners and System Users sections of the Facebook Business Settings.

Removing these from your Facebook Settings will prevent the module from working correctly, so please do not remove or edit these unless you are planning to remove the module integration altogether.

Disconnecting The Module

Should you ever decide to disconnect the Module from your Facebook Business Account, simply click on the "Disconnect" button found at the top right of the page. (It's located next to the "Launch Management View" button)
