Are There Any Pre-Made Language Packs?

In a previous article, we described how you can edit your store's text and system messages to reflect your business' language.

If you plan to translate your store into either Spanish or Portuguese, please feel free to use the language packs below to help you save time in this endeavor.

To use these:

  1. Download either the "Language-Pack_Spanish" or "Language-Pack_Portuguese" zip files found at the bottom of this article.
  2. Once downloaded, unzip the file to your desktop

The zip files will contain a language pack for your store language as well as a separate file for your store's system messages. Store Language will control the labels for the various sections of your store, while System Messages will control the various error messages and prompts created by the store for your visitors.

Once you've unzipped the appropriate language file, proceed with the next steps.

Note
Due to the character encoding used on some accented characters, please be careful when opening or saving these files in a spreadsheet program. Ideally, you should import the files into your spreadsheet program instead of opening them outright. Furthermore, when importing, please be sure to use the spreadsheet program's UTF-8 encoding.

Finally, if you need to further edit and save the files with additional information, please remember to use the "Save as CSV" option of your spreadsheet program. Do not use "Save as CSV (MS-DOS)" as it could result in accented characters becoming mistranslated upon upload.

How can I revert back to the default language?

If - for whatever reason - you would like to revert to the default English language version of the cart, simply download the sample files located in each import section described above. The sample files contain the store's syntax in the default English.
