Can I Control What Happens When My Shopper Clicks "Add to Cart" on the store?



The store has a setting called "Add to Cart Action" which will let you dictate what occurs when the shopper adds an item to their cart.

The setting can be found by going to Settings >General >Store Settings in your Shift4Shop Online Store Manager and click on the "Checkout" tab found along the top of the page.

Directly below the "General" label, look for the "Add to Cart Action:" setting drop down. This setting will control what happens on screen as the shopper clicks "Add to Cart" on the store. The setting has the following options available to it:

  • Stay on Page
    No visible action is shown. The item is added to cart and the shopper remains on the product's listing page.
  • View Cart
    The shopper is taken directly to their ViewCart page when the item is added to cart. From there, they can continue shopping or otherwise proceed to checkout.
  • Checkout
    The shopper is taken directly to the checkout page(s) when the item is added to cart. From there, they can either complete their order or continue shopping your store.
  • QuickCart
    The shopper is shown the QuickCart display for the item.

After setting your preference, be sure to click "Save" at the top right of the page to have the changes go into effect.
