How do I use the Stock Alert Feature?

The Stock Alert feature will notify you via email when product's remaining stock runs low. This setting will keep track of inventory for products with or without product options. For example, if you have a product that has the options of small, medium, and large; the stock alert function will automatically notify you if you are running low on the small option.

When the product's inventory reaches below your specified level, an automated email will be sent to the email address specified in your "Merchant Information" section (Go to Settings >General >Store Settings, click on the "Store" tab and look under the email field in Store Information to check which email it'll go to..)

Enable Inventory Control

The Inventory messages will not display unless Inventory Control is enabled. Inventory Control keeps track of the stock of your products in your store. Below are the basic steps involved for enabling Inventory Control.

  1. Go to Settings >General >Store Settings
  2. Click on the "General" tab
  3. In the Inventory Control section, check the Enable Inventory Control check box.
  4. Click Save

Set the Stock Alert

  1. Go to Products and search for the product you'd like to edit.
  2. Click on the product's name (or look to the far right and click on its "Action >Edit" button.

While viewing the product's Information Tab, look down the page towards the "Inventory Options" section. In the Stock Alert field, type the stock level number in which you would like to receive a stock alert email. When inventory reaches below this number, the email will trigger. For example, if you would like to receive notification when the stock of the product reaches below 5, type 5 in the Stock Alert field.

  1. Click Save.

Note:
The stock alert number cannot be a zero. If the number is 0 in the Stock Alert field, you will not receive any notification from the stock alert feature.

If you'd like to receive an email notification when your stock runs completely out, then you'll want to use the number 1 for "Stock Alert" since 0 is below 1.
