How Do I Add and Edit Extra Web Pages?

Here, we will cover how to add new web pages to your online store. This will be done in the store's "Site Content" section and you'll have the ability to add both Menu Links (which usually appear at the top of your site) as well as Extra Pages (which typically appear along the bottom of your site).

To get to Site Content:

  1. Log into your Shift4Shop Online Store Manager
  2. From the left menu go to Content >Site Content

Adding a Menu Link

The menu links section creates and modifies pages on the store's main navigation menu.  The look and layout of your main menu is dependent on the design Theme you are using but most of them will have the menu located on the top.

Top Menu Links

When you click on this section's "Edit" button, you'll be taken to the Menu Links page. The menu links page allows you to create and modify pages on the store's main navigation menu.  The look and layout of your main menu is dependent on the design Theme you are using but most of them will have the menu located on the top.

To add a new page to the Menu links section:

  1. Click "+Add" at the top right of the Menu Links section
  2. Type the name of the page
  3. Select from the drop down if it is a new main page or a secondary page to an already existing menu page.
  4. Sorting determines what order the page will be in the main menu.  Lower numbers display first. Make sure the sorting order does not conflict with another page.
  5. Check "Hide Link" if you do not want the page to be available on the website
  6. Click the "Add" button to create and add the page to the Menu Links listing.

To edit a menu link page:

While in the menu listing section, look to the right of the page listing and click on the "Action >Edit" button.

The Page Content page has the following parts:

  • Name:
Use this field if you'd like to change the name of the link.
  • Link:
If you would like the link to lead to another page such as the my account page or an external link such as www.google.com, specify the link here.*
  • Target:
This setting determines if the page opens in a new window/tab or in the current window

*Note:
The following sections of the page content will only apply to the Menu Link if the "Link:" field (mentioned above) is left blank.

If the Link option is used, these next settings won't necessarily apply since the page is redirecting elsewhere

  • Edit "[Page]" Content:
This is where you will add the actual content which includes (text, images, tables etc) to the page.  You can use the HTML Page Builder to format your content more easily.

Tip
If you would like to bypass the HTML Page Builder and use simple text or WYSIWYG instead, you can click on the "View Source Code" link to turn off the HTML Page Builder altogether.

  • Advanced
The advanced section will have the following options:
    • Frame Template:
If creating a brand new page (i.e. not linked as above), you can create additional frame templates that will display for the content.  (Click Here for more details)

Use this to restrict access to the page based on customer groups
    • On fail redirect to:
(only visible after using "Allow Access")
Should a restricted group attempt to access the page, they will be sent to the page entered here.  If left blank, by default it redirects to the store's "My Account" page.
