Can I make DNS Record changes on my 3dcart Store Domain?

Beginning with version 9 of the 3dcart service, store owners may now make basic MX and TXT record changes to their domain's DNS.

The following information only applies to store domains which are using 3dcart's name servers in their DNS (, & If your domain is using a different set of nameservers and is pointed to your 3dcart store via other means (such as a CNAME or A Record), the functions described in this article will not work. In these cases, you will need to make your changes with whatever service is handling your name servers.

To edit your store domain's MX and TXT information, follow these steps:

  1. Log into your 3dcart Online Store Manager
  2. Using the left hand navigation menu, go to Settings >General >Store Settings

The Store Settings section will be presented in a series of tabs at the top, with the default (selected) tab labeled "Store"

  1. Within the "Store" tab, look at the "Store Information" section and locate the "Manage DNS" button
(it's directly below the "Secure URL" field)
  2. Click the button to proceed.

The system will take a moment to generate a view of your store domain's current DNS information. Once this is done, you will be presented with a view of the domain's current MX and TXT information. From this view, you will have the ability to add or delete your store domain's MX and TXT Records.

Deleting a Record

To delete an existing record, simply click on the "Delete" link located to the far right of each enty. You will be asked to confirm the deletion and the record will then be removed.

Adding a New Record

To Add a new record, click on the "Add New Record" button located at the top right of the page. A popup modal will appear with the following fields:

  • Record Type
Select whether this record will be an MX record or a TXT record. Then enter the rest of your DNS record information
  • Record Name (required)
This will be the name of the resource record. Typically this will be the domain name by itself. In the case of TXT records, the name will usually be the domain name by itself, or otherwise incorporate your domain name into it in the form of a sub-domain (something.yourdomain). Please check with your provider for specifics.

The system will not accept @ or @@ as the record name. If your provider's instructions specify these for the record name, try substituting your domain name in place for @ (or @@) instead and check to see if that will work for the service you're creating the records for.

  • Server (required)
This will be the actual value information for the record. For MX records, it will typically be a mail server name. For TXT records, it will be a series of text. Your service's TXT record instructions may refer to this as Value, Answer, or Destination in their documentation.
  • Preference (required only for MX records)
This is the preference value for the Mail Exchanger record. Lower numbers take precedent over higher numbers. The system will not accept any value higher than 9. For TXT records, leave this blank.
  • TTL (Time to Live)
This is the record's Time to Live function. The default value is 3600 seconds.

Once you are done entering your record information, click "Save" and it will be added to your store domain's DNS information.

Be aware that changes will be made to your DNS record (on 3dcart) quickly. However, due to propagation, you may need to wait for the changes to be reflected across the Internet before they are apparent. Propagation time can take up to 24 hours in some cases (although it's usally much quicker than this).
