Why Do My Amazon Pay Orders Have the Customer's Name Listed Twice?

  • Issue: When using Amazon Pay the shopper's name sometimes appears twice.
  • Cause: Amazon Pay does not require the user's last name so the first name is repeated on the order.

Some merchants have noticed that orders paid with Amazon pay sometimes show the customer's first name twice on the Billing Information section.

This happens because Amazon does not require a last name to be entered into the customer's profile so not all users may have specified a last name.

However, our order system DOES require last name. Therefore, when the payment comes in - and the last name is missing - our system simply replaces the missing last name with the first name.
